___Dream Big, and make it happen, it feels good, so good
_Wandered
into a bookstore hidden behind ShopRite in Arusha, I needed something
to kill the time of next day's 36-hour-trip, as I broke the kindle on
the Kilimanjaro trek. I
went for a book that looked like might wouldn't be found in Barnes &
Nobles back home, versus the top-seller-thrillers on the shelf next to
it.
It turned out to be the most amazing and fun non-fiction biography, from airport to airplane to another airport to another airplane and to the train, I just couldn't put it down. Love it! Absolutely love it! West with the night -- Beryl Markham “From the time I arrived in British East Africa at the indifferent age of four and went through the barefoot stage of early youth hunting wild pig with the Nandi, later training race-horses for a living, and still later scouting Tanganyika Rivers, by aeroplane, for elephant, I remained so happily provincial I was unable to discuss the boredom of being alive with any intelligence until I had gone to London and lived there a year. Boredom, like hookworm, is endemic.” A life has to move or it stagnates. It's not just her adventurous encountering and life. It's more of her attitude toward adventure that impresses me deeply. |
